Glurgle

A resonant filter effect inspired by the Oberheim VCF200

Glurgle

A resonant filter bank with a cutoff modulated by either a sampled and held noise source running at different speeds (as heard on Ship Ahoy by Frank Zappa), or an envelope follower.

Here’s a quick demo:

ControlParameterLeft LEDRight LED
Left knobCutoff/ centre frequency
Right knobSpeed (in sample and hold mode)
Encoder button (single click)
Encoder button (double click)
EncoderInput sensitivity (in env follower mode)green = sensitivity
Left buttonLow pass/ Bandpassgreen = low pass; red = bandpass
Right buttonToggles modes (env follower/ sample and hold)red = env follower; blue = sample and hold

Open the patch glurgle.pd in Plugdata to get an idea of how it works.

You can also flash the binary file directly to the pedal using the web interface (see the guide to flashing using the web.

Glurgle with tap tempo

This is a modification, without the envelope follower mode, that uses just the noise sample and hold mode. The right button taps a tempo, and the right knob then subdivides that tempo from 1 to 8 subdivisions.

ControlParameterLeft LEDRight LED
Left knobCutoff/ centre frequency
Right knobTempo subdivision of modulator
Encoder button (single click)
